Oncology
By Betsy Ertel, AHDI-F
Definition – The term oncology literally means a branch of science that deals with tumors and cancers. The word “onco” means bulk, mass, or tumor while “-ology” means study.
There are many kinds of cancer, but they all start because of out-of-control growth of abnormal cells.
For macro building purposes when transcribing this large, complex field of medicine, multiple designated dictionary files could be created to differentiate types of cancer terminologies, i.e., Hem/Onc, OB/GYN, Nephrology, Pulmonology. Word and phrase
categorizing may depend on your work flow content material, or course. Below are just examples of keyword shortcut names for terminology. As always, create a system that works for you!
