EHR IS/IT Manager

Summary:

Management of IS/IT staff to meet organizational goals and IS/IT department within approved budget. Duties and responsibilities include the following: Metrics, which define and measure operational productivity and quality. Operational Efficiency and Effectiveness, which sets operational and quality targets, regularly monitors efficiency using metrics, uses industry statistics and information to validate efficiency and effectiveness, and maintains and applies technical and business acumen to increase service value. Relationship Management, which shows a high-level understanding of customer’s business processes and key issues, and builds working relationships with key customers. Project and Process, which demonstrates knowledge of the principles and practices of project and process management and the applications that support them, and uses project management tools and processes to effectively manage projects. Resource Identification and Allocation, which assesses responsibilities and defines required resource skills and tasks, and manages salary resources to perform responsibilities. Development, which ensures associates have the necessary experience and training needed to support the area, delegate responsibility to associates effectively, and has defined goals and objectives for each associate with progress measured on a periodic basis. Financial Impact, which manages financial budget of responsible section to include budget forecasting, expense projections, and spending within the fiscal year. Maintains service contracts, purchased services, travel, software, etc.

Educational Background:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required

Experience/Skill Sets:

  • Minimum of six to ten years’ equivalent experience and 5 or more years’ experience in Information Systems or Project Management required
  • Six to ten years’ equivalent experience preferred
  • Healthcare systems experience desirable

IS/IT HIM System Support Analyst

Summary:

Supports healthcare applications and handles in-depth support of EMR/EHR systems. Contributes towards building, implementing, and maintaining an electronic health system. Investigates and resolves computer software and hardware problems of users. Answers questions, applying knowledge of computer software, hardware, and procedures. May train users on software and hardware on-site or in classroom. May perform the initial analysis of data and develop customized reports to facilitate meaningful interpretation of the data.

Educational Background:

  • Associate’s degree/technical school or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience/Skill Sets Required:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Skilled at managing change
  • Good problem-solving/analytical, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Possess some working knowledge of current healthcare technology
  • Experience identifying and troubleshooting PC issues
  • Familiarity with multiple systems within the same clinic (lab, x-ray, EHR)
  • Experience in systems development lifecycle, including requirements, gathering and design preferred

Experience/Skill Sets Preferred:

  • Two or more years of experience

Physician Liaison to Healthcare System

Summary:

Serves as a liaison between the health system, independent physicians and hospitals, and hospital administration promoting our quality, services, and technology, while building positive working relationships. Works in a highly collaborative team environment, provides general guidance for specific internal and external physicians and clients. Key responsibilities include participating in strategic planning, creating, and implementing business development programs and ideas in collaboration with service line leaders (marketing, strategic planning and development, communications and marketing, patient relations, recruitment, and other entities in the system) to develop and grow physician relationships and partnership with health system.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, healthcare, or related field required

Experience Required:

  • Three years’ experience, outside healthcare sales or professional experience working with physicians, as a consultant, educator, or in other roles

Healthcare Documentation Specialist Manager

Summary:

Manages all essential functions of the Healthcare Documentation or HIM Healthcare Documentation department to ensure timely delivery of quality services. Monitors and maintains the integrity of all related systems and applications. Interviews and hires, evaluates employee performance, administers discipline, and maintains appropriate records. Monitors the Quality Assurance program and/or Clinician-Created Documentation Integrity program. Implements and oversees training programs. Oversees the use of outsourced transcription services, including contracting and technical issues. Develops, manages, and is responsible for meeting department budget. Maintains an active presence with facility and department teams related to project implementations. Responsible for continuous process improvement. Ensures compliance with state and federal laws pertaining to healthcare documentation.

Educational Background:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, management, or health information management, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • RHDS or CHDS preferred
  • RHIT or RHIA may be considered

Experience Required:

  • Five years of related healthcare documentation and/or health information management experience, preferably in an acute care setting and in a supervisory or managerial capacity

Clinician-Created Documentation Integrity Supervisor/Manager

Summary:

Clinician-Created Documentation Integrity Supervisor/Manager manages the activities of the integrity auditors and educators. Provides education and guidance to the team based on data analysis and audited results. Manages process improvement initiatives. May serve on various hospital committees such as Quality or HIM. May work with physicians, other managers, and C-suite executives on various hospital quality initiatives.

Education Background:

  • Healthcare Information Management degree or in related field preferred
  • Associate degree and equivalent experience required
  • Demonstrate willingness for continuing education required

Experience Required:

  • Minimum five years’ experience working as a QA manager in a large healthcare organization

Clinician-Created Documentation Integrity Auditor Educator/Trainer

Summary:

Clinician-Created Documentation Integrity Auditor Educator/Trainer audits and ensures the integrity of healthcare documentation with focus on physician training needs. Quality is monitored, measured, and reported on by verifying content and context for inconsistencies, discrepancies, and inaccuracies. Develops and conducts individual or classroom training of physicians and other healthcare practitioners in the entry of medical documentation into the EHR. Auditor educator/trainer individuals possess proficient medical knowledge, basic computer and Microsoft Office skills, and EHR mastery. Current AHDI certification (CMT or CHDS) is required or must be earned (CHDS) within one year.

Educational Background:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Continued education credits earned in the healthcare documentation/medical field required
  • Associate’s degree in health care, quality management, or education (or equivalent education and experience) preferred

Experience Required:

  • More than five years’ experience with healthcare documentation in a large acute care facility and/or quality assurance work in a large acute care facility

HIM Supervisor

Summary:

Supervises and oversees the daily activities of the Health Information Management department to ensure the delivery of quality services. Coordinates and monitors health information management programs, policies and procedures, and assumes the responsibility for ensuring that all programs are administered according to company standards and regulatory compliance.

Educational Background:

  • Health Information Management required

  • Working in a large healthcare organization

HIM Manager

Summary:

Responsible for day-to-day operations of image processing, internal/external release of information, birth certificates, scanning into EMR, physician online record completion, analysis, suspension process, and research projects. Plans, directs, and controls activities and staff within assigned areas of responsibility. Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Organizes, directs, and coordinates the activities of the medical record specialists in image processing and chart completion as well as release of information and birth certificate completion. Facilitates information requests involving research projects. Oversees the quantity and quality of work performed, develops and monitors standards for the quantity and quality of work. Designs methods to improve efficiency and quality. Reports results as directed. Interviews, hires, evaluates, trains, and provides corrective action for staff as necessary. Coordinates 2nd and 3rd shift department activities. Develops and implements policies and procedures for given areas of responsibility and assists in development of departmental policies/procedures. Participates in departmental planning including budgeting for given area of responsibility. Establishes sign-ons and provides training to new users. Serves on or chairs various hospital committees, as required, for effective information management. Acts as liaison with hospital personnel, administration, physicians, governmental agencies/officials, judicial officials and contractors. This position is responsible to assist in development of annual operations budget of approximately $3+ million. This position is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the budget. Assists department in meeting established medical record account receivables targets.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree, health information management or associate’s degree in Health Information Management or bachelor’s degree in other field with four years’ experience in medical records supervision
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred

Experience Preferred:

  • Three to five years’ experience in Health Information Management/Medical Records administrative position
