Annual Convention and Expo Minimize

AHDI held its 31st Annual Convention and Exposition in Nashville, Tennessee, July 29 – August 2, 2009. Keynote speaker Donna Hartley delivered a riveting presentation on the power of overcoming challenges and embracing change, while Bruce Mast and Jonathan Perlin took attendees on a facilitated journey through the complexities and challenges facing both healthcare delivery and the health information sector today, including the impact of the Obama administration’s push for EHR adoption and integration, the role of consumer-driven healthcare, and the continued demand for faster, more efficient solutions that drive down cost and improve clinical decision-making. Attendees looking for an answer to the question, “What does the future look like for the MT?” were provided with information, insight, and resources for making the much-needed transition into the analytical roles that are being carved out in the documentation arena of the future. Delivering a unified message around the importance of a preserving a patient’s full health story emerged as the central theme of the conference, as experts and industry leaders shared the vision of The Health Story Project and its goals for making sure EHR systems include the option for narrative capture, thus ensuring a role for the documentation knowledge worker in the future of health data capture.
In addition to timely presentations and updates on key industry messages, trends, and drivers, attendees were provided with over 30 opportunities for continuing education credit in technology, clinical medicine, and other relevant core areas. A dynamic exhibit hall, fun networking events, and special sessions helped to create a meaningful attendee experience for all who participated.
